West Beach CafeLittlehampton, 2008On graduating from the Architectural Association Asif Khan was commissioned to design a cafe in the English seaside town of Littlehampton by innovative clients Jane Wood and Sophie Murray who had previously commissioned Thomas Heatherwick's award winning East Beach Cafe.

West Beach CafeLittlehampton, 2008The galvanised steel facade is like a doll's house, complete with sash windows. It opens up to the beach to offer a room outside, an auditorium for concerts, or to instantly double the visible frontage of the building. During the winter and high wind the facade is closed and full height windows provide views across the english channel. |
